Please contact Kim Griffis, Film Commissioner at 719.685.7627 with your questions regarding permitting.
Any organized activity involving the use of, or having impact upon public property, traffic flow, pedestrian movement, public facilities, parks, sidewalks, street areas or the temporary use of private property in a manner that varies from its current land use, requires a permit. The permit application process begins when you submit to the City of Colorado Springs Police Department a completed Permit Application. Keep in mind that acceptance of your application should in no way be construed as final approval or confirmation of your request.
If you have specific questions for the city police department (who issues permits for most projects that involve public access) contact Sergeant Lonnie Spanswick with details of your project as soon as possible at 719.444.7704. There may be a chance that you will not need to submit a permit application if certain criteria are not present within the scope of your project. If you do need a permit, you will need a current Certificate of Insurance in order to proceed with the permitting process! Questions? Call Kim Griffis, Film Commissioner at 719.685.7627.
If you plan to film at a city park, it is your responsibility to contact the appropriate division or facility manager within the Parks & Recreation Department in order to coordinate the scheduling of your event. Special rules, regulations and restrictions unique to each site or facility may apply. This does include Garden of the Gods Park. Please contact the Colorado Springs Parks & Recreation Department at 719.385.6514 or review their information on their website.
